A word that perfectly captures the contradictions and complexities of life. Awfully great. Horrendously fantastic.

My own life has been a testament to this. Growing up amidst the turmoil of war and the oppressive silence of a music ban, I found solace and joy in music. I learned to embrace beauty within the chaos. As the Persian proverb says, “Buy yourself a pair of iron shoes and walk a long way,” and I did just that, traversing life’s winding paths with resilience and a sense of wonder.

This journey is reflected in my music. The title track, “Oxymoron,” is a sonic embodiment of my life experiences. It is a dynamic piece that defies expectations, blending intricate rhythms with simple harmonies. Much like my life, it is harmonically simple yet dynamically complex. I experimented with unconventional tunings, ultimately finding a unique voice for the guitar. The song seamlessly shifts between Persian 7/8 and Spanish 3/4, blending cultural influences into a fresh and innovative sound.
This album features three distinct tracks that deviate from my usual guitar-driven style. These songs are more vocal-based and incorporate contemporary lyrics, unlike my past work, which often featured classical Persian poetry. This change reflects the challenges and changes in my life during the album’s creation.

As Iran faced widespread protests calling for freedom and equality, particularly for women, these three tracks emerged as a response. Inspired by the powerful poems of Mohammad Zarghami, they express support for those fighting for their rights. The contrast between these socially conscious songs and the more traditional guitar-based tracks mirrors the very essence of “Oxymoron” – the contradictions and complexities that define both my life and the world around us.
